U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams visited Alaska Regional Hospital's Neonatal Abstinence Evaluation Support & Treatment (NEST) unit, where we care for babies born addicted to substances. During his visit to the NEST, Dr. Adams said providing a non-judgmental and educational space for families helps create a pathway for recovery.

"Stigma prevents the pregnant mother that she can come in and ask for help for her and her baby and get the help that she and the baby needs," Adams said.
